Nick Makoha is a lead FFL poet and mentor. Nick’s personal and professional experiences and his academic credentials make him an ideal tutor and mentor for the young people we work with.
Nick fled Uganda because of the civil war. He has since lived in Kenya, Saudi Arabia and currently resides in London. As a Spoke-Lab resident he developed a one-man show “My Father & Other Superheroes”. The show reveals how pop culture raised him in the absence of his father. He has recently completed a project with Tate Modern in which his poem “Vista” was used to promote the Turner prize. His poem Beatitude is the newest addition to Being Human the third book in the Staying Alive trilogy that has introduced many thousands of new readers to contemporary poetry.
